About the shukubo
Zuishozan Kannon-in Nomanji (commonly known as "Higiri Jizo Son Kannon-in"). 2-13-18 Higashi, Kiryu City, Gunma Prefecture. This private Temple Hotel is limited to one group per day, allowing you to enjoy the entire premises, including a beautiful private garden and a fully equipped kitchen, all to yourself. It's a sanctuary where tradition and modern comfort merge, allowing you to relax your mind and body.

A Shingon sect temple (with a history of approximately 380 years) said to have been founded in Shoho 1 (1644), it is the 10th temple of the Kanto 88 Sacred Places and the 33rd and 5th temple of the Joshu Kannon Sacred Places. The current head priest is Eishin Tsukimon. It has been selected as one of "Gunma's 100 Famous Places" and is locally known as "Shichijo Jizo Kannon-in." The 24th of every month is a lively engnichi, attracting many worshippers to the Jizo-do, bell tower, and Binzuru-do (hall dedicated to Binzuru, believed to have healing powers) within the temple grounds. Prayers are also held daily on days other than the engnichi, with the smoke of incense from worshippers never ceasing, attracting the faith of many people. The lush green grounds change colors with each season.
In June 2025, a tourist information cafe & park and a Korean herbal medicine cafe "Sabo Sara" also opened on the temple grounds.
History of the Temple

The legend of Higiri Jizo Son remains. It is said that long ago, when there was a large weaving mill, a giant appeared night after night. When he was shot with a gun, the bloodstains disappeared in the garden of Kannon-in. That night, Jizo appeared in the dream of the house's owner and said, "I have been standing every night to protect your house, but in the open air, I cannot gain the faith of the public. I want you to build a hall. If you make a wish for a limited number of days, your wish will surely be granted." It is said that a hall was built with donations from villagers. The bullet marks are still said to remain on Jizo's shoulder, which is the origin of the name "Higiri Jizo Son." There is a special Goshuin (temple seal) available only on the 24th of every month, the day of the engnichi, and original Goshuincho (Goshuin books) designed with a shakujo (Buddhist staff) and a sacred jewel (4 types) are also available.
